Stainless Steel 316 Scrap

Stainless steel (SS) 316 scrap is a chromium-nickel based steel that's used in various industries for its durability, corrosion resistance, and versatility:
Applications: Used in the manufacturing of aerospace and automobile parts, pharmaceutical research, chemical processing, and architectural components. It's also used in heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping systems, valves, and fittings.
Properties: SS 316 scrap is resistant to corrosion and abrasion, and is also heat resistant. It has a precise chemical composition of carbon, chromium, molybdenum, manganese, nickel, and phosphorous.
Recycling: Recycling SS 316 scrap contributes to resource conservation and waste reduction.

SS 316 is the second-most common form of stainless steel. It has similar physical and mechanical properties to 304 stainless steel, but contains about 2 to 3 percent molybdenum. This molybdenum gives SS 316 increased resistance to corrosion, especially chlorine pitting.
